Friends of Canil de Portimão is a volunteer led charity dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and cats at the municipal canil in Portimão, Algarve.
Our work is rooted in community spirit and depends on the time, care and commitment of volunteers and supporters.
Through outreach, education and public engagement, we aim to inspire compassion, responsible animal guardianship and greater awareness of animal welfare.
We work to place dogs and cats into safe, loving homes, but our mission goes beyond adoption. By welcoming visitors into the canil, we create openness, understanding and a shared sense of responsibility.
Volunteers help by walking dogs, socialising animals, supporting cat care and helping build trust so each animal has the best chance of a positive future.
Through community events, open days, walking days and awareness campaigns, Friends of Canil de Portimão brings people together to learn, help and create lasting change for animals in need.
