The Sacred Vulnerability of Becoming an Elder Woman

We call it menopause. Or the transition. Or the change.

But for me, it is something deeper: the becoming of an elder woman.

I know what I am speaking about. I am 63, and I have walked this path with hot flashes, restlessness, sudden hunger, mood swings, and moments of deep insecurity. My body felt unfamiliar, unpredictable, and at times overwhelming. Like many women, I could have fought it. I could have tried to silence the symptoms, to push through, to “fix” what was happening.

Instead, I chose to listen.

What I embraced was not decline, but expansion. I allowed myself to grow larger on the inside. I let the changes exist, rather than waving them away or chasing the illusion of how I once was. This phase asked me to slow down, to feel more, and to tell the truth to myself.

What I notice around me is how our world often responds to this transition. We are often surrounded by solutions, supplements, hormones, and promises to make it all disappear. As if this phase is something to outrun, rather than something to inhabit.

For me, true support does not override the body ☺️ it accompanies it. Gentle allies such as essential oils and flower remedies can support women in staying present with what is unfolding. Not to suppress the process, but to soften it, creating moments of grounding, emotional balance, and trust. They work subtly, inviting the nervous system to exhale and the heart to feel safe enough to listen.

Menopause is not a failure of the body; it is a threshold. My wish is that women dare to feel this change, supported rather than silenced. Because becoming an elder is not about losing youth 🌿 it is about arriving fully in yourself.

I work support women in times of transition to reconnect with their inner rhythm and embodied wisdom💓

With love,
