Detox is not a cleanse

Then what is it?

Let’s be honest: most “detox” advice is either childish or extreme. Juice for three days. Teas that make you live in the bathroom. Cutting everything fun and calling it “discipline”. Then you feel worse and decide detox is nonsense.

Here’s the truth most doctors skip: detox is not a trend. It is a daily biological process, and it is not only about food. Your toxic load comes from your kitchen, your bathroom cabinet, your laundry, your perfumes, your skincare, your cleaning products, even the pan you cook in. You can eat organic all day and still be marinating in exposures.

Here’s the insight most people miss: many “detox symptoms” are not proof that detox is working. They are often a sign that elimination is not working. Your liver packages hormones, toxins, and waste so they can leave through bile and stool. Your gut is the exit route. If that exit is slow, irritated, or blocked, your body can recirculate what it was trying to get rid of. That can look like headaches, skin flare-ups, fatigue, nausea, brain fog, and mood dips. Not because you are weak. Because the system is overloaded.

This is why I do not push punishment protocols. The basics are boring, but they work: protein to support liver pathways, fibre you actually tolerate, hydration, daily movement, sweating, and sleep that restores you. And then the part most people ignore: reduce the incoming load. Swap the products you use daily. Start with the ones that touch your skin, your food, and your air.

If you want a structured reset that tackles both sides, explore Toss the toxins.
